Genting Dream set off on her maiden voyage under Resorts World Cruises brand on 15 June 2022. We were privileged to be invited to join her on her first sailing, a two-night cruise to nowhere.

The construction of Genting Dream, the first ship of the cruise brand, Dream Cruises, was completed on 12 October 2016, and the vessel sailed from Papenburg, Germany the next day. The ship was originally designed and ordered for Star Cruises, but she was transferred to Dream Cruises during construction.[4] After the liquidation of Dream Cruises parent company, Genting Hong Kong, the vessel was chartered to Resorts World Cruises. There are also 142 suites that are part of Dream's Palace 'ship-within-a-ship' concept featuring a 'highly personalised' European-style butler service and other special privileges. With 1,680 cabins, 1,278 outdoor cabins and 3,360 passenger cabins spread over two exclusive floors, the ship offers a variety of accommodation options for guests.

What we also appreciate is the stress-free “travelling” requirements. It is just a matter of heading to the Cruise Centre and boarding the ship; there’s no hassle of rushing about or having to spend time travelling to the destination. To put it simply, these are pre-arranged tours at every stop. One of the best things I love about cruising is that you get to visit other countries while enjoying the cruise ship’s amenities and features at the same time.

Genting Dream is the world’s first OIC/SMIC (Organisation of Islamic Cooperation / Standards and Metrology Institute for Islamic Countires) certified Halal-friendly cruise ship. The Lido buffet restaurant at Deck 16 serves Halal international, vegetarian and Jain vegetarian food. Outside food and beverages are generally not allowed on the cruise ship. Genting Dream's itinerary program started with year-round 2-night weekend cruises from Guangzhou-Nansha (departures each Friday) to Hong Kong, and 5-night itineraries (departures each Sunday) to Danang Vietnam, Sanya and Halong Bay Vietnam. The ship also offered 7-night itineraries out of Hong Kong to Guangzhou, Danang, Sanya, Halong Bay, and Shenzhen/Zhuhai.
